As a ceramicist, Heidi Bjørgan has a special interest in common mass-produced forms. Bjørgan picks up things that have been forgotten or ended up at the flea market. She makes casts of these objects in clay, it becomes a kind of sampling of the object's shape. It is something that happens when familiar forms are reproduced in a different material and with a different method. The forms acquire a different functionality and value at the same time as they acquire a narrative dimension.

Gray and Yellow II – In the works Gray and Yellow II, Heidi Bjørgan has explored the potential of sampling other artists' works into her own. A fruitful point of intersection has opened up when she has sampled elements from the works of the Canadian artist Linda Sormin. Bjørgan has used "leftovers" from her installation from the exhibition Ting Tang Trash * at Kode 1. The vase shape is based on a cast of a plastic lampshade that Bjørgan found in a container several years ago. The top, which can perhaps give the illusion of abstracted bouquets, is recycled material from Sormin. Bjørgan has re-glazed this part, so that the objects have a holistic, colorful feel. The contrasts between the two artists' idioms, however, are still clear.
