Kosta Boda Earth On Top Mini Clear/Gold

With Earth On Top Mini, Bertil Vallien has created his own mini world of glass, inspired by our place on earth. The clear glass sculpture from the Kosta Boda Artist Collection is cast at Kosta Glasbruk and decorated with a small house, hand-painted with real 24 carat gold.

Earth symbolizes our planet with a small house - which in turn can be associated with the image of a home, a castle or our place on earth. For Bertil Vallien, the house and home are a powerful metaphor for so much in life; like security, family, myself and mine - my own world. However, the house can also be associated with the limitations that the four walls provide - for some it is also a prison.

Kosta Boda is one of the world's leading brands in glassblowing and glass art. Their ovens and glass huts in Småland have been in use since 1742 and today several well-known designers work in their studios around Kosta and in close collaboration with the craftsmen. In close dialogue, they explore and challenge traditional techniques and develop new techniques in the cabins when designs and ideas are to be realised.
