Kosta Boda The Rock Candlestick

With The Rock, Kosta Boda celebrates the 50th anniversary of the iconic Snowball candlestick. The kinship between the two candlesticks is clear, yet The Rock stands firmly on his own two feet. Hanna Hansdotter has designed The Rock, with an irregular exterior and with a dramatic silhouette - like a mountain or a very large rock.

The Rock is cast at Kostas' glass factory in Sweden.

Hanna Hansdotter was born in 1984 and since she graduated from Konstfack in 2017 has received both national and international attention. She works both sculpturally and with series-produced glass, and her designs are often characterized as slightly punk and baroque, inspired by architecture and ornamentation.

Kosta Boda is one of the world's leading brands in glassblowing and glass art. Their ovens and glass huts in Småland have been in use since 1742 and today several well-known designers work in their studios around Kosta and in close collaboration with the craftsmen. In close dialogue, they explore and challenge traditional techniques and develop new techniques in the cabins when designs and ideas are to be realised.
