Marimekko’s pattern history has always been characterised by stripes. Some stripes have stood boldly on their own, while others have played a more subtle role alongside other patterns. Some have lasted for just one or two seasons, while others have remained for decades. Galleria, designed by Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi, is one of the distinctive patterns that has become a timeless classic.

Marimekko is a Finnish design house recognised around the world for its original prints and colours. Founded in 1951 by the visionary Armi Ratia, Marimekko was one of the world’s first lifestyle brands, combining fashion, bags and accessories with interiors in a bold, sustainable and functional approach to design. At the heart of Marimekko’s design is its own textile printing factory in Helsinki, where bold patterns and colours come to life. Around one million metres of fabric are printed at the factory each year.
