Marimekko
Marimekko is a Finnish design house founded by the visionary woman Armi Ratia in 1951, and is today world-renowned for its colorful and original patterns. In the 1950s when the prevailing fashion was quite restrictive, Marimekko began to create dresses in abstract patterns and vibrant colors for women brave enough to express their personality through their attire. Marimekko is a Finnish word for "Mari's dress". Over the years, Marimekko's anti-fashion evolved into a lifestyle of its own, and they were one of the first lifestyle brands to combine clothing, bags, accessories and home decor with the same recognizable design. Marimekko has always remained true to its original vision of creating timeless, distinctive and functional designs with bold colors and prints in the textile factory in Helsinki.
