* All the sculptures are unique and may vary in expression and colour, the images are intended as illustration.

Ole Martin Skaug's sculptures are unique and are modeled by hand. Skaug uses a number of different types of clay for the sculptures. Texture, plasticity and color produce different results and surfaces. Often several clay types are used on one sculpture, sometimes up to 6-7 different clay types. The raw-fired works are treated with oxides, pigments and glazes before a final firing.

Ole Martin Skaug lives and works in Hølen, a small settlement by the river Såna in the south of Akershus, between Son and Vestby. Skaug has been a full-time sculptor since 1994 and works mainly with stoneware clay. Most of the production is in smaller formats, but he also creates larger installations. Skaug's work revolves around various expressions. Many of the works are caricatured, grotesque and humorous, others delicate, introverted and quiet, and Skaug alternates between these idioms. The idea work is a mixture of a disciplined, controlled process and spontaneous inspiration. Skaug tries to be open to what happens during the work with the sculptures, and often finds that the end result is something other than what was planned. It could be a line in the clay, a personality forcing its way through or a random texture begging to be used.
