Pendant with a pattern inspired by a beaver tail. The pendant is made of silver and comes with an anchor chain.

The Hillestad jewelry workshop is located in Åmli Municipality, which has a beaver in its municipal coat of arms. Ditte Alstad has created a stylish and beautiful interpretation of a fascinating animal.

Ditte Alstad
 Ditte Alstad is a craftswoman with a background in jewelry and metalwork. She is educated at California State University Long Beach, School of Fine Arts, Department of Jewelry and Metalsmithing.

She has made jewelry, preferably in silver, but also larger works in many different metals. Much of what Ditte makes is rooted in natural science, directly or indirectly. She is also very interested in the properties and possibilities of materials. In the creative process, she therefore goes back and forth, crisscrossing, between the possibilities of the material, technical solutions, aesthetic expression and function.

The popular Hillestad jewelery is produced at Hillestad, where knowledge and craftsmanship have been passed down since the Viking Age. Reproductions of traditional bunad earrings are made there and several Norwegian artists are behind the designer jewellery. Every year, new designs are developed, which are cast in silver, pewter and bronze.
