Bea Silk Skirt
Bea is a timeless skirt made from recycled raw silk. The skirt has an elegant A-line silhouette, a discreet zip fastening at the waist and slanted pockets. Small knots in the silk yarn highlight the fabric’s unique texture and character. The skirt is perfect for autumn parties and festive occasions, but can also be styled more casually depending on what you pair it with.
Silk is one of nature’s most delicate fibres – lightweight, comfortable and naturally lustrous. This recycled silk is made from a blend of silk textile waste from production and material collected from used garments. Once collected, sorted and spun, the material is woven into a new recycled silk fabric. As a result of the recycling process, the fabric has a naturally irregular texture and surface, giving it its unique character.
Aiayu – pronounced [ai-ya-yu] – means ‘soul’ in Aymara, an indigenous language of Bolivia. The label was founded in 2005 by Maria Høgh Heilmann with the aim of creating products with consideration for the environment, the people who make them and those who wear them.
Fabrics are selected for their texture and tactile qualities, with particular attention to how they feel against the skin. The soft, natural colour palette allows the materials and yarns to take centre stage, often in their natural shades without the use of chemical dyes.
The garments are made in Bolivia, India and Nepal and are closely connected to their origins and the people who produce them.
