Nedre Foss

Knubb Tray Ash

Kr 4.300

Knubb is a solid tray in ash, designed by the Norwegian design studio Studio Sløyd for Nedre Foss.

Knubb has the familiar shape of a tray or a shallow bowl, but the upper surface bends down through the object, giving it a playful and unexpected expression. The shape can resemble a face or a mask with a distinctive expression, making Knubb as decorative as it is functional.

The name Knubb comes from the Norwegian word for a short and stout tree stump or piece of wood. Figuratively, it can also describe a compact and powerful creature – a description that perfectly suits the object's solid form.

Knubb is made from a single piece of solid ash and treated with a food-safe wax oil based on natural ingredients.

Nedre Foss was started by the design duo Anderssen & Voll in 2009. The core of Nedre Foss' design is the term "Century Product" and what they refer to as utility sculpture. By this is meant objects that will serve you for at least 100 years, and where the sculptural properties on the one hand and the aspect of use on the other are equal parts of the function. It may not need to be mentioned that quality and longevity also play a large role in product development for Nedre Foss.
