Thor Bjørklund from Lillehammer invented and received a patent for the cheese grater in 1925. Gudbrandsdal Industrier AS (GIAX) is today the owner of the Bjørklund brand and has production in Ringebu.

With the new surface treatment Amitto, developed by Bjørklund, the cheese does not stick to the blade. The shafts are designed to be good to hold, while at the same time they look good. They are made of a plastic material, and are therefore well suited for the dishwasher.

Thor Bjørklund fra Lillehammer fant opp og fikk patent på ostehøvelen i 1925. Gudbrandsdal Industrier AS (GIAX) er i dag eier av varemerket Bjørklund og har sin produksjon på Ringebu.

Med den nye overflatebehandlingen Amitto, utviklet av Bjørklund, klister ikke osten seg til bladet. Skaftene er designet for å være gode å holde i, samtidig som de tar seg godt ut. De er laget av et plastmateriale, og er dermed godt egnet til oppvaskmaskin.
