This mortar from Marimekko is made of brown stoneware, and has a clear glaze and the embossed Unikko poppy flower pattern on the outside. It has a naturally rough interior with grooves. Marimekko's famous poppy pattern Unikko was created in 1964, at a time when the design house's collections mostly contained abstract prints. The designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from the organic theme and designed a whole range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
