Berger Jacket Polar Bear

Kr 4.900
Timeless, soft and warm jacket from Lillunn with the original polar bear pattern designed by artist Thorolf Holmboe in the 1920s. The jacket closes with large buttons and has side pockets on each side.

The jacket is in 100% Norwegian lambswool, woven in Latvia on the looms that originally stood on Berger factories.

The pattern was originally woven at Berger Fabrikker and is part of the archive that Lillunn's founder Unn Søiland Dale, along with her friend Jean Charles de Castelbajac, discovered in their archives. Berger Fabrikker was sold to new owners around the 2000s and Lillunn was allowed to continue producing the original pattern on the same machines that they had been woven on for 100 years.

Lillunn was started in 1953 by Norwegian designer Unn Søiland Dale. She made clothes from wool blankets and was inspired by, among other things, how Hurtigruten had blankets for its passengers to keep them warm.

Unn Søiland Dale began her fashion career as a model in the 1950s in Paris. Her design career began with hand-knitted items, such as the popular Marius sweater, which was exported to large parts of Europe. In the 1970s, she contacted her old collaborators at fashion houses such as Dior and Givenchy and created advanced knitwear collections for them.

Together with Jean Charles de Castelbajac, she also developed plaid coats and jackets, which are still a large part of Lillunn's collections today.
